About

My story ….

Where do I begin?! Having spent over 30 years in the corporate world, I took the decision to take a career break (aka grown up gap year) which resulted in an amazing 18 months travelling the world. Crazy? Almost certainly. But was it worth it? Absolutely!

I was fortunate along the way to incorporate my two passions in life …. animals and walking. This included volunteering in Thailand with the most majestic of animals – the elephant as well as dogs. In China I spent time with the not so cuddly giant pandas, a whole plethora of animals at a sanctuary deep in the Bolivian jungle and the most amazing 8 weeks in Borneo getting up close and personal with the orangutans.

And what about walking? Well my journeys have included walking to the summit of Kilimanjaro, Base Camp Everest and more recently 6088m to the summit of Huayna Potosi in Bolivia. Battling with high altitudes, freezing temperatures, not to mention carrying a heavy backpack, I have been rewarded every single time with the most breathtaking views and an undeniable sense of achievement that reduced me to tears. Every time I’ve said “never again” …. Oh well that didn’t work out!!

My travels gave me time to reflect on my future and I knew that upon my return that I didn’t want to return to corporate life. It became obvious (with a little help from my friends) that to turn my passion into a business would be my dream job. So I’ve made a lifestyle choice rather than chasing my tail on the corporate hamster wheel and as a result Doggy Dates was born.

I appreciate it takes a lot of faith to trust someone to look after your furry best friend – that is why trust and safety are a very big part of what we do. Sometimes you need a bit of “you” time – whether it’s a family holiday, a cheeky weekend away, or just some time to do those jobs around the house, I will do my best to support you no matter what and look after your pooch while you have your well earned break.

Choosing the right person to care for your dog can be stressful, daunting and time-consuming and for your peace of mind, making the right choice is vitally important. I hope I can alleviate your concerns and it will be a privilege to provide you and your dog with a worry-free boarding, day care or walking experience.

What’s in it for me? I get to walk in the delightful Berkshire countryside with new furry friends to play with and I get to offer you the care your dog deserves whilst you are parted. What more could I wish for!
